El Paso, TX - The El Paso Coyotes look to rebound from a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Turlock Express as they head to Tijuana, Mexico to face off against fellow southwest division foe, the Baja Atletico, in a Major Arena Soccer League game at 5:05 p.m. (PST) Sunday, the 19th of February, at the Unidad Deportiva Tijuana.
The Coyotes are coming off their second overtime loss this season in search of their first MASL win during their inaugural season. Coincidentally, the Coyotes’ first overtime loss came the last time they played against the Atletico on the 4th of February. The Coyotes are led in goals by midfielder Omar Ledesma (15 goals, 6 assists, 21 points), followed by forward David Salas (14 goals, 7 assists, 21 points), and forward Daniel Frias (13 goals, 7 assists, 20 points).
The Baja Atletico are coming off a nail-biting 5 to 7 loss against the league leading, and southwest division rival, the Sonora Soles. They look to rebound tonight with a victory and season sweep of the Coyotes. The Atletico are led by superstar midfielder Christian Gutierrez. Gutierrez is currently third in the league in both points (57) and goals (47); he is also second in both game winning goals (6), and in points per game (3.35).
Tomorrow's night matchup will be the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two teams. The Atletico have won all three previous matchups 14 to 9, 7 to 4, and 9 to 8, respectively. The Coyotes’ will conclude their three-game road trip and will head back home for their final home game against the Ontario Fury on Friday, the 24th of February.
